Dani’s Philosophy on Staff Development

I have seen all too many staff development days wasted on showing teachers how to do "neat" things with a computer, without demonstrating how technology can improve student learning in the classroom. Don't get me wrong, creating classroom web pages and downloading digital pictures is great, but how does that assist students in learning the content standards? After all, our main job as teachers is to focus on student learning. Therefore, technology staff development sessions need to focus a lot more on the students' academic achievements and a lot less on the "neat," but essentially non-academic functions of technology.
